When I clean a house I get into a rhythm that keeps me focused on the flow of the project rather than getting bogged down in each particular moment of cleaning. This is admittedly harder to do in your own home. That’s because every item in your house means something to you and so threatens to ensnare you in that relationship. But take it as a challenge–and an experiment. What is it like to consciously avoid the pull of the things in your home while you’re cleaning them?
