House Cleaning

​I take pride in my thoroughness. Nothing gives me more pleasure than taking a room that, for instance, has been “lived in” by a gaggle of messy-fingered kids for the two weeks since I was there last and restoring order and cleanliness. (Well, some things give me more pleasure but I really enjoy the jolt of seeing a shining, put-together room emerge from disorder!) And my clients appreciate this about my cleaning (as they explain in my reviews).

Aside from just making sure that things get really cleaned, thoroughness means covering the territory: cleaning high to low (moldings and tops of windows and doorframes down to baseboards), under things (knickknacks, furniture, throw rugs), and getting the little things (light switch plates, smudges by door knobs, vacuuming in the corners, etc.).

And while I’m thorough, I’m also very efficient. When I first started cleaning in the late 80s, my mom gave me a book called Speed Cleaning which set me on the path of efficient cleaning. Since then, I’ve cleaned more than 500 different homes over a period of thirty plus years, and in that time I’ve done a lot of work, building on that early approach, figuring out further ways to clean effectively while not wasting effort. This gives me the freedom to indulge my detail-oriented perfectionism without spending an undue amount of time at it.

I’m also committed to using nontoxic tools and products. I was one of the early companies to adopt green methods (starting in 1992). As a result, the cleaning I do has low impact on you home through minimizing the residues left on surfaces. From a recent training, I’ve updated my techniques to keep my green cleaning current with the latest developments.

For all these reasons, I provide very high quality cleaning at reasonable cost. Being in business for myself has given me the motivation to maintain these standards over many years.
